do you eat meat? why? don't give me that "god put them on earth to eat" ****. if you're so loving why do you think its okay to kill and canibalize the flesh (or carcass to be even more descriptive) of another species? do you know how they're killed? it's disgusting. i'm tired of christians trying to convert me and force me to go to church they don't know me and they're contradicting and they're just so proud of their insensibility. and i haven't found one that could answer this question in a rational manner.

actually i don't follow peta and i'm not crying about anything, i just wanted to know how someone could claim to have so much love and not care enough about the life of another being, be it an animal or a human. to the poster who said something about it being wrong to eat plants you are a fool vegetation and plant cells obviously differ from a mammal. i have a few cats and i could never see myself eating them or any other cat so i dont see how eating a cow or a pig is any different because an animal is an animal. cats are mammals too and they have moods they have feelings and they probably have at least some primitive thoughts or opinions towards things.

don't you know anything about central nervous systems and the difference between a plant cell and an animal cell? your bible is ****. tell me how the castration and beheading and constraint of another animal is equal to vegetation hanging out in the sun all day one that doesnt run or even flinch when kicked. i will eat each and every last one of you in the next life.

and the reason i ask christians is because it is them who constantly try and get me to go to their silly youth groups and pray with them and join their bible study and i think that i'm a little bit more moral when it comes to the appreciation of life and it's them that need to question what they've been told. **** what you heard

katievsworld,
I suppose that there are Christians that will answer you in a manner other than civil, but what you are doing, is self-righteous. You are totally judging Christians in particular for something that is done all over the world. That is; the eating of animals.
katievsworld, do you realize that many people of many cultures eat animals? And then if you are going to attack Chrsitianity for it, which is actually ridiculous, because I know of Christian vegetarians, but anyway, God was the first one to kill an animal for Adam and Eve to wear clothing.
Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
AND the TABERNACLE? All those sacrifices to God made at the alter-- BURNED. The meat of certain sacrifices were allowed to be eaten by the priests, Eli becoming huge enough to be made note of.
Daniel was a vegetarian of sorts, though I imagine the lamb at Passover was an exception of his.
Come on! You have to know that vegan and vegetarian is an exception to the rule! You HAVE to know that most people eat animals!
And don't dismiss this as a nutty explanation. It's truth to you, perhaps you've never heard it before, but I guess my response is an exception to you.
So lighten up for your own sanities sake!
SHEEEEEESH!

Yes I eat meat! Because I have to have protein! I'm allergic to nuts and eggs gross me out....
I don't think it's fair to compare your pet cat to a cow in a field. The cat you have an emotional attatchment to, and I agree it would be pretty sick to eat something you are attatched to...however, I have no emotional attatchment to that cow out in the field, and so theirfore, I will eat it! yum! If you however, feel an emotional attachment to it, then don't eat it, but don't knock me for doing so.
It's also not canibalism because we are not eating other people.
I am well aware of how they are killed, disgusting yes, but it's not going to stop me from meeting my nutrition needs.
You would also be doing good to remember that if you are going to complain about christians "forcing their beliefs on you", then you should probably watch how you judge them, because guess what, it's the same thing.
Also, please bear in mind that you should have addressed the question to meat eaters considering that that is obviously what you have an issue with as far as this question is concerned....Don't know if you have noticed or not, but I have seen lots of non-christians chowing down on a big juicy steak!
Also, I will not call you **** for being a vegetarian, but If you are going to call my bible ****, don't be surprised when you get a backlash from people who you have offended...Myself included.
Also, just because you don't agree with the answers you get doesn't make them irrational.........

While I admire your zeal in your convictions, eating meat isn't against Christianity. Yes, it IS in the bible that man is the highest in the food chain and that he is to consume the flesh of animals for strength but I doubt that Chirstians use that as an excuse for consuming animals unless pressured to. Let me ask you this. If we, humans, are not supposed to eat living things, why do we consume plants? Where does one draw the line with consuming other living things to continue ones own existence? I agree that there is some horrible treatment of animals used to create mass food sources but there are better alternative now such as free range chickens, animal friendly euthanasia, etc. If you don't believe it is right to kill an animal, why is OK to kill a plant? Are plants unconcious and if so, who are you to decide that? You assume that plants don't feel it but biologically, they are living things. And if we were to eat nothing that was living, we would starve. I don't know why you're so angry at Christians but I wouldn't single them out in your crusade to save the animals. I wish you good luck in your choice of being a vegetarian but do know that everyone has the right to choose. I know you're thinking "but the animals didn't get the right" and you are correct. However, it is all a matter of judgment and choice of each individual to decide what it right for them. Just as you choose not to eat the flesh of animals, it is others choice to do the oppistie. And if you are a Christian, isn't it "judge and ye be judged?" P.S., I am not a Christian and am a former Vegetarian. Good luck.

I am sorry that other christians have come across to you as you have described them above. I feel you can believe what you want. That is your choice.
Why can't we eat meat though? I eat meat cause it tastes good, and it has nutrients that are beneficial to my body. Yes, I have seen how they are killed, I have also seen how they are raised. I don't agree with the way these animals are treated, but that is not going to stop me from eating them. Might as well have gone through that terrible life for a purpose right?
And it would only be cannabilistic if we were eating other humans...it is not cannabilism if you eat the meat of another species.
I hope this is what you would consider rational.

I'm not a christian but I'll say that you'd probably have gotten more rational answers had you asked your question rationally.
I'm an atheist, and I quite like steak and beef & lamb gyros. I don't have a problem with eating meat. The human race has evolved with a dependancy on meat (there is no other natural source for vitamin B12, the lack of which causes severe nervous system damage).
So... Deal with it. Or better yet, take your nose out of other people's business and you wont' have to deal with their dietary choices.

Do you value the life of an animal more than a human? How about equal to a human? If a stranger and your pet were drowning, which would you save if you could only save one?
We, from creation, were given dominion over all of the animals. We do not "share" dominion with them. They are entrusted to us. If we were not to use them for nourishment, wouldn't the bible indicate this (as Christians)? Further, as Christians, wouldn't it be absurd to be taught how to sacrifice animals and eat their flesh by God, I we were not to eat them?
I think you might be on very soft ground trying to demonstrate vegetarianism being prescribed scriptural.
But, your conversion of heart is a different matter. I'm guessing that knowing that Christ is the Lamb, the eternal sacrifice, whose flesh we must eat to have life within us, may be even more appalling. Just remember that it is original sin that has ushered death into this world and death that we must always deal with. Through Christ, we do not have to succumb to it.
Do not let this stumbling block keep you from your True home!
God Bless,
MoP

First off Jesus says that "it is not what goes into a man that defiles him (food) but what comes out of a man" Everything G-d has made is good, and there's nothing wrong with eating animals, in fact that's what we did after Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden. Anyways, it's ridiculous for anyone to deny themselves the good things of nature because of some stupid traditions and superstitions. G-d in no way commanded us not to eat meat! It's preposterous that he would do so, and Christians can eat what ever they won't unlike other religions!

In Genesis, God killed an animal to cover Adam and Eve's nakedness from sinning in the Garden of Eden.
God gave instructions to sacrifice animals to cover the sins of the people in the Old Testament and told them they could eat the meat of certain animals, some were unclean due to health reasons.
After Jesus came to die for the sins of the world, the sacrificing of animals ended because their was no need of it any more.
We worship the creator and not the created things of this earth. ie: animals, sun, moon, etc...

If you don't want to go to church, that's up to you.
In the book of Peter, God told Peter that he could eat of anything, including the flesh of animals. God said, "do not call unclean whatever I have made clean".
What you call rational, I don't know. I go by the bible. Sorry you're so angry about everything.

God told Peter to KILL AND EAT.
That is the best source for me..
Act 10:12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
Act 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
