Most atheist I know don't really care if people worship or not. We are not trying to prove there is not God, we are only suggesting that there is no evidence that would lead us to believe there is.
We care about religous matters because they affect our everyday lives and we don't like that.
We don't want religion taught in schools, we don't want christian morality forced on us. We don't want to be told we can't choose for ourselves.
We support your right to worship, please support our right not to, and keep your belief where they belong...in your churches.

Most Christians I know don't believe Atheist hate them.... If anything, it sometimes seems like it's the other way around. Though I will admit to knowing a few that aren't very tolerant of the ideas of Atheists.

I can appreciate the position that someone doesn't want another's belief thrusted upon them. I personally find different philosophies, theologies and systems of thought interesting.

However, let me ask you this.... If you don't think it's right for say Christian ideas or practices to be pushed on you or your child, in school for instance, then do you think it's right for strictly secular ideologies to be pushed on a Christian or their child without a respect to their beliefs?

You also point out that you don't want to be told you can't choose for yourself.... How can someone make an educated choice if they are not exposed to the different ideas?

Personally, I think we'd be all better off if instead of denying religious teachings in school, there was some class teaching in a respectful way an appreciation (or at least tolerance) for religious ideas. Maybe then we would learn not to have so much division and hate for each other.

Well said! I see so many Christians on here ask why do Atheist hate them and what can they do about it. Most of the answers they receive is to stop pushing their religion on them. Yet nothing is done. So I thinks it's a complete waste of their time and everyone else when they ask those questions and don't do nothing about it.
Some people don't realize it's a two way street. I have no problem with people believing in god. For all I care they could also believe in the Easter bunny and it would not make a difference to me. As long as they did not try to convert me and tell me I am evil for not believing in their god and that I am going to burn in hell and saying that I can't be happy with out god in my life. Cause that is just NOT true. It's called respect, some people have it others are still trying to learn how to treat people with respect and others are too set in their ways to even care.

I don't hate atheists, it is not a Christian principle to hate. We have freedom of religion guaranteed under the Constitution of the United States of America, that's a good thing, yes?

Abso-freakin-lutely.

Case in point...I work at a rape crisis center. We are non-for-profit so therefore avoid picking political sides. We just received an unsolicited letter from a family about 2 hours away, trying to preach adoption instead of abortion. It was chock-full of "our Church" "our Christian family" blah blah blah, I don't think Jesus' name is mentioned that much in the Bible.

My point for all this is: your family is happy, that's great, I'm glad for you. But I would never send anything to a business pushing my religious agenda. That is exactly what I do hate. People are entitled to make their own personal decisions, and how dare people think that they have the right to judge others, especially people that were victims of a horrible, violent crime. It is that very self-righteous condescension that people hate, not the religion itself.

I don't come to ur house trying to convert you. The government is infringing on ur rights not me. I don't know you but the fact that you and ur sect bash religion and don't know not one christian on here is sick! It shows that you lack morals. My views won't change and ur suggestions should be kept to yourself. You need to talk to the people in ur state and ur community about religious freedom not on here. You should have the common courtesy to write ur state rep or government on these issues not spew hate on here. You don't support us because ur words show otherwise.
You and ur sect are racists because you only bash Christianity. There are atheists on here trying to convert or force their views on us. Evolution is not taught in my child's school. Thank God! You have chose ur beliefs and no one has taken that away from you so don't lie and say differently. You have a mind. Use it! Our beliefs will be spoken out regardless of what you want in church or outside the church. You haven't seen nothing yet! There are other real issues out there that deserve attention like muslims threaten the U.S. True atheists don't do this because they are not concerned about religion or what we do! You will reap what you sow and that's hate! Get a clue or Go away!

It's not about hate! It could be about ignoring someone! It Is about a Supremely Supernatural being with Unlimited LOVE desiring to favor Y-O-U with more awesome Royal gifts just for accepting HIM as your Creator and Mentor forever!
that church you referred to is a body of believers... in fellowship to garner more of HIS gifts by polishing up the ones they already have received...that seek a relationship that shares HIS Love with the"sick, lame, or lazy" folks on this planet HE Created for that purpose!

We don't hate you at all. Our religion teaches us not to hate. It teaches us to accept people for who they are and not what they think. Think about it. If we were all alike it would be a very very boring world. If that's what you believe more power to you. We are not here to judge. That comes on judgement day and the decision is not made by christians.
As far as religion being taught in school I think it might be a good thing to have. It will teach others that don't know about religion to believe there is something out there other than what they are brought up believing. But I don't think it should be a class that you are forced to take. It should be an option - like all other classes.

Read half the questions on this board, and youll get an inkling why Christians believe Atheists are hateful. I have no problem with religion not being taught in schools. I do have a problem when schools change Xmas break to Winter Break, yet still close for "yom kippur" in my town. In St. Louis, (oops sorry to offend you with a city named for a Christian Saint) they deemed that Frosty the Snowman was a religious icon. (Obviously not well up to date on religious icons), and in South Orange NJ, Ode to Joy and other classical music was banned from being played or sung in concerts because of "religion".
By the way, morals are morals. They are not innately religious.

I personally can't say I have felt like any atheist I have met hated me, but for you to say that we should leave religion at church is wrong. For me being Catholic is a life style, it's part of who I am, to leave that at church would make me a hypocrite and it's just not something I can do and feel okay about. So please respect the fact that our religion is part of us, not just something we do!

I'll second everything you just said in that question. The problem is that christians try to vilianize anyone who does not see things thier way. There is supposed to be a seperation of church and state but obviously that is not true elections are won on religion, decisions are made on religion, it says in god we trust on our money. not all but many christians have no respect for anyone of other religions or athiests. I agree most atheists have no problem with the religious reich as long as they keep thier religions thiers. apparently people have the freedom of religion just as long as it is the religion of the majority.
