I worked in a grocery store when I was in high school. It was great b/c I got to hang out with other kids my age. They pay you pretty good, too. And plus, usually the bosses will work around your schedule for school and other events too. You also get to learn some people skills which is always a good thing.

You might be better off starting as a busser than you would as a waiter/waitress. If it's your first job, you get to see everything that goes on in the restaurant, you don't have to deal with as many people directly, and you still make great pay. A lot of restaurants are weary about hiring teenagers because people under 18 can't serve alcohol. If you're working somewhere with a bar, you won't be able to serve anyway. Start out as a host/hostess/ or busser. You'll make good money, meet tons of people, and will get to know the business.

I would not say that there is a specifically good job for a teen as any job you do is all about the experience you gain which will contribute towards your resume. There is a difference in getting paid well and not enjoying it and having a job where it feels like you are not going to work. Further more, find a job which relates to your hobbies and interest. Good Luck in your search.

Dear Thomas Depends on your age different jobs go with different teen ages. Companys must comply with Labor laws. If your 16 and this is your first job start with a Fast Food place. Grocerie stores like younger teens on weekends. Have you though about working in the local movie house maybe cleaning up between movies? I would like to see you incorporate something your currently interested in in your job hunt so you can learn more about that profession Best Wishes

The best thing for you to do is decide what you like to do. Then start calling around to business in that industry offering your employment services for valuable training and (pay).
My daughter is 18 and is a receptionist in a law office where the partners have given her a scholarship to study pre-law and have told her if she stays with law they will pay her entire way through law school. All she did was start calling all of the law firms in the area.
My son is also interning with a graphic designer...he is 12.

any fast food is good... I am all for Chickfila (I worked their for 3 years in high school) and if you work their for a year then you pretty much automatically get a 1,000 dollar scholarship. But if your 18 I suggest waitress/waiter because I started doing that when I was 18 and over the 2 monthes of the summer I made 3,000 dollars.

Supermarket cashier for one of the big chains is a good job for a teen. You're going to make $10 or more per hour, the locations are usually convenient, and the work won't destroy you physically.

Merchandising for Frito Lay is a good job for a teen. If you have your Driver Licence you can drive to five different stores and mechandise Frito Lay products onto the shelfs. It's a good job beacuase you are your on boss and you get to see different people.

I recently read a newspaper article about a teen who scored a welding apprenticeship job through his school's vocational program and he earns $12.50 an hour and is pretty much guaranteed an even better paying job when he finishes his certificate program.
