Paxil as a known fact causes the dreaded weight gain but helps anxiety-does anything else after weaning off paxil help like cymbalta with anxiety and depression like paxil without weight gain?

Hi...as you may know you are taking an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor). You may want to ask a doctor to prescribe you a different medicine in this category like Prozac. Cymbalta is also not a bad option but it works a little differently affecting a different neurotransmitter caller Norepinephrine. Good luck :)

paxil is a life-saver for me. I don't particulary like some of its side effects, was tired of them after 3-year use, but no other meds seemed to work for me. I was on lexapro, some other non ssri meds... nothing helped. About AD meds, their effect vary individually. If you can afford risiking it, let your doctor try more on you. I've never been in situation where i could put my ability to function normally in risk, that's why i stayed with paxil.

Both Prozac (all formulas including once weekly dosing)and Cymbalta are associated with less weight gain. Your best bet is to discuss this with your prescriber.

Besides Effexor, one can consider lexapro, prozac and wellbutrin. Latter has least weight gain but maybe more effective for depression than anxiety, ask you doctor, good luck

effexor is what I am on and it did wonders... and i didnt gain or loose weight from it...
some people i know took welbutrin and lost weight, when i took it I took the original "purple pill" welbutrin and lost 15 lbs. i lost my appetite but it came back like 3 months later...
