the firefighters are 21M, part of the Engineers, i know there is only one place for firefighters to get MOS-Qed, it might be with the Air Force, but its a very small unit where-ever you go, promotions are going to be slow, and like ppl are saying they are getting phased out because its cheaper to just hire firefighters rather than keep a certain niche for them in the Engineers.

very few Active duty Firefighters period. the Air Force is the only branch that trains their firefighters closest to a civilian FF, and they are currently pretty much the only branch that utilizes military FF on their bases. all shore installations for Navy and Marines are civilians, as are most of the Army's.

he's one hundred% ultimate. As become pronounced by ability of others posters, you will could wait till you end all your improve training (time will rely on which profession field you chosen). you may bypass to college for something. they do no longer care what you learn. And as pronounced, how lots off-accountability time you may take instructions will rely on your activity, your paintings schedule, and no count if or no longer you setting up. must you join to attend instructions on your off-time and your shift is replaced or you get picked up for a deployment, oh properly. Sorry however the militia's desires come first you may (and are inspired to) get a CCAF degree, which become defined before. while you're training a CCAF, an acquaintances, or a bachelor's degree, the learning tips (TA) application pays one hundred % (that is one hundred%) of your training! examine in for the GI bill.you should use this to make the government.proceed to pay to your college as quickly as you're out (you should use it while you're in to boot, yet there could be no choose while you're making use of TA). i'm effective you be attentive to this, yet brush aside what the UCLA guy pronounced concerning to the militia being a final motel. that is an honor and a previledge to serve your u . s . and whats up, in case you will get spectacular training and an practise while you're at it, then decide for it. some human beings don't understand the seen being patriotic or selflessness. interior the militia, (assuming you're 18) you may serve 2 a protracted time and assemble retirement at age 38! Retire at 38! maximum individuals can in easy terms dream of such issues! With the learning the militia provides you with, you will (in all probability) be waiting to pursue a useful profession interior the civilian international (back, that is dependant upon what profession field you paintings in), paintings for yet another 20 (must you so decide for) and retire back at age fifty 8... accumulating 2 retirement assessments isn't undesirable. sturdy success and in case you have any questions, enable me be attentive to! I unquestionably have been lively accountability for almost 9 years.

I'm not sure if there are that many on active duty. The only ones I've personally known were reservists activated after 9/11. Everywhere I've been they were DoD civilians.

as i said to answer your other question...one don't get much say in what you can be, or where you can go. shorthanded MOSs are priority, meaning the jobs people don't really want. 63B, 88M, 11B....(Not meaning 11B is shorthanded, but more is better!)
