First: Just plug your cable output into the RF modulator's cable input connection and the DVD player into the RF modulator's AV inputs. Second: Connect a standard cable from the RF modulator to your TV. Third: Select either the channel 3 or 4 output on the back of the RF modulator. Fourth: Turn the TV on and the RF modulator will automatically detect your cable input for the TV. When you want to watch your DVD player, just put the TV on channel 3 or 4, turn the DVD on and the RF modulator will automatically detect the DVD player and will display your movie.

An RF Modulator allows the use of DVD players, video game systems, camcorders, and other video components when a television is not equipped with an audio/video jack. The device combines audio/video line-level signals into an RFoutput signal (necessary for televisions with only a 75-ohm RF coaxial input).
Better ones offer a separate antenna/cable TV input that eliminates the need for switching cables back and forth; a channel 3 or 4 output selector switch that ensures compatibility with most televisions and an Auto sensing A/B switch that automatically switches back and forth between antenna and video source.

OOOOHHH OOHHHHHH I know this one. Look on the back of your TV and look on the back of your DVD player. Chances are, they have different connections. An RF modulator is the go-between for your TV and DVD player. It accepts the coaxial cable from your TV and the RCA plugs from your DVD player. It does so much more and can be used in different applications, but this scenario covers 99% of the modulators uses.

an rf modulator will allow you to take coax(cable line,rg6, etc), and convert it or(modulate) it to reb, white, and yelloe av cables. example of needs: you have old tv with only cable(coax) input, and a new dvd player with red, white, yellow, and you want to connect them. the rf modulator will connect to the cable from the tv, and have three outputs to hook up to the dvd player.average price(15.00-20.00)

I have one at home. it connects the different electronics, such as, TVs, radios, video games, vcrs and DVD players at the same time. Quite handy when you want to avoid the hassle of unhooking your dvd player when you wanna play a video game or any other electronic device.
