I mean, Statistics Canada reports that out of 250 000 immigrants to Canada, only 6500 are American. I find it ridiculous that we don't open the border to freely attract more American workers.

We can't even have a truly open border between Ontario and Quebec.

Even though I am an American, I am a Canadian at heart. Don't ruin Canada with more Americans. Keep Canada clean and pristine, so I can retire there some day and leave all the BS here behind.

I agree with Andy, just don't hold it against me that I live in the U.S. - it wasn't my choice that I was born here. C'est La Vie...

Stanstead looks nice but I am partial to Vancouver.

The US has a similar economy to Canada but in general lower taxes. There is very little incentive for Americans to come to Canada. Most of the immigration is from countries with a lesser economy or more oppressive political climate.

Americans are always trashing Canada; why would they want to live there?

They're mistaken of course; and my favourite town is Stanstead (Rock Island) QC/Derby Line VT -- one village, really, with the border bisecting several buildings including the public library.

that includes stealing your jobs and rapeing your economy blind, but its for the good of the whole right?
