It depends on how long you are going to do it. If it's just for a day or two, then that's fine. If you are trying to do it for longer to lose weight or something, then it's not. If you want to do a cleansing diet of juice only or something, then you need to know what you're doing and get the right nutrients. Consult a nutritionist.

if you fast with only water you'll die from mineral shock.

only fast for a proper reason not for losing weight.

fasting is a spiritual thing in an essence. (whether or not you're religious)

fasting should only last 12 hours at a time the max.. break it gently per 12 or whatever hours you set it to.. with vegetables and fruits, juices.... proper hydration.

then go back to fasting.

this is the simple procedure.

fasting can be a rewarding experience if done right.. it's more metaphysical than anything else.

one can get quite a high from proper fasting.

improper fasting you'll get sick, suffer diarrhea, vomiting... dehydration that will damage organ tissues... lack of oxygen and minerals to the muscle tissues, organs and the brain.

the big deal is hydration and mineral counts.

if you're serious about fasting make sure you know what your blood chemistry is.

most who do it end up losing alot of potassium and iron.

and that can be way dangerous.

good luck.

but read up on fasting online.. google it.

also meditation and fasting go together.

Muslims are fasting these days from sunrise to sunset with no water or eatables through this time. if you are not a diabetic then you can do the same thing, otherwise you can eat multivitamins at the beginning or end of the fast. Just don't do this daily for long term since it can cause malnutrition if not done appropriately, good luck

Sure. How long will the fast last? Jesus survived 40 days in the desert without food. Man will not live on bread alone, but the word of God.

if you are fasting to lose weight it won't work.. you'll end up gaining it all back very quickly and it will be harder to lose because you will have lost muscle.. but if it's for religious reasons or to purge your body that's up to you.. and just take the vitamin.. it doesn't really count as food .

Try a juice fast. Juice all fruits and veggies. You get your fast and your vitamins.
A friend of mine did this for a month.
