You look like Barbara Bush. Your old son is the President. Looks like he made it.

Maybe there's a real reason why he does not want to go to school. It could be he may have no friends, there may be a bully, etc, etc. Have you asked him why? I believe once you have found out the real reason, you can find a solution. He may just need to get himself involved in school, like sports, or any extracurricular activities. He may say there are no problems, but I would really talk to him, as in sit and talk, make time. Its one thing when a parent is doing something else while talking to you while their mind is somewhere else and another when they have your full attention. Makes a whole lot of difference.

Just tell him having education is an edge for future jobs. If he will not listen then just let him do what he wants. Just support him, maybe he is still finding himself and confused on a lot of things.

Time will come that he will realize that education is important an I know he will go back to school.

Just support him if not he will be rebelious and follow what you told him but he isnt happy inside.

too bad you didn't mention how old your son was. if he is an adult (+18), than maybe it's time for you to let go..let him make his decision. but if you were refering to a 10 yo, then what you should do is talk to him softly. find out why he didn't want to go to school. a child psycholog would be a big help. he might be having trouble with homework, friends, etc..

I guess if he is old enough to choose for himself there is nothing you can do except try to motivate him or give him an incentive. I have a 24 year old daughter who quit school at 15 and never went back. It is heartbreaking.

if he does not want to go to school i would just say fine don't go it's your life. i have already went to school. but, you will not be living here doing nothing! get a job or get out. if he still refuses contact the school and let them know he won't go and you don't know what to do. they will be able to help you. if he continues his truancy he will end up in a juvenile detention center. it is called tough love, and i know it hurts but you must do this for him. good luck to you

For what reason? is he scared/anxious of something there or doesn't he want to leave the house, or is he just refusing to go. Before you force him, talk to him and find out why...maybe get him onto home tuition?
