In your opinion, what do you believe to be the differences of the Catholic and the Protestant faith. No looking to others for answers, no searching, just your views. I would like to know your views on the subject.
Thank You :-)

I was a Protestant and now am Catholic.
Catholics believe in:
Confession to God through the priest.
That we have Apolositc succession from Jesus to the Apostle Peter, to our Pope today.
The real Presence in the Eucharest. "This is my body" not "This is a representation of my body"
The seven Sacraments.
We honor Mary more, and honor Saints more, and ask for their intercession when in need. (we do not Worship Saints).
We have more traditions.
We tend to put more importance on Family, attending Mass every week. (Although there are MANY very faithfull Protestants)
Protestants believe more in:
A personal relationship with Jesus.
More personal seeking God's will, less structure.
Protestants have no one leader, but are broken into a lot of individual groups and their beliefs can vary greatly.
That is my view in a Nutshell, I do NOT mean to bash Protestants! I know so many wonderfull Protestant people! My Faith journey just brought me home to Rome!
Peace!

The Catholic religion was the first Christian religion. The Protestants did not like some views of the church and broke off, starting their own. Protestants don't belive in asking Mary or Saints to intercede on their behalf, they don't follow the Pope, and the Eucharist is merely a symbol and not the actual body and blood of Jesus.

There are several differeces but then too there are several Protestant differences. For me the main differences as to what I was raised to believe as a Baptist and Catholicism which I chose is that Baptists believe "Once saved always saved, Salvation by only faith,Communion is a symbol, and Sola Scriptura.Catholicism teaches salvation can be lost or thrown away, Faith and actively living that faith are important, Communion is the true and acutal presence of Christ, and that Tradition is important too.

The two main points on which Protestants differ from Catholics are:
1. Protestants support the protest led by Martin Luther, which sprang from a desire to reform the church and cleanse it of corruption
2.Protestants are united in rejecting the authority of the pope.

Catholics believe in intercessory prayer, and Protestants do not. Protestants don't seek out a priest to ask for forgiveness of their sins, they just talk to God openly. Protestants also do not believe in praying to saints and the Virgin Mary, only God.

Anything that isn't catholic is "catholic-light."
I think protestants, or some groups of them, don't put jesus on their crucifix(es).
They bow instead of genuflect.
They don't have to go to confession, they just have to ask god to forgive them (one of the reasons for the catholic-light designation).
And that's about all I know. Or think.
