I dont think Tv (or videp games) are the problem. The problem is theyre not spenind enough time being active. and really stimulating their minds. Parents just allow them to sit around on the couch and eat chips all day. Kick your kids butt out of the house, make them do something active, enroll them in some kind of sport/activity.

That depends on how they are used. How much does a teen, who thinks he knows enough to be an adult, base his knowledge on TV? Does he watch the Discovery and History Channels, or cartoons and Disney? Who does he have for a role model, Colin Powell or Scooby Doo?
If a teen lives in a poor neighborhood with a single parent and little money, does what he watches on TV influence him more? Answer some of these questions about the quality and quantity of what is watched and then draw your own conclusion.
By the way, how much are you being influenced by the answers you get here? Are you influenced more by the quality of the answers or like choosing which channel to watch, the thought that you put into asking good questions?

Excellent question!

When I was a teen, I didn't have access to TV. I worked, went to school and had activities. I think I turned out pretty well. I never bought one, and my kid turned out pretty well too.

People who can only discuss what was on TV are superficial. They tend to lack patience, as they have seen life's dilemmas worked out in half hour sitcoms or one hour police dramas.

The less TV for everyone, the better, imo.

TV and computer games are the result of lazying parenting. I can imagine that its a million times easier to shut up your kid by putting them in front of TV or computer, but when I was young, I was kicked out on the street to find someone to play with.

Only in the name of bad media, i.e .society. Bad images=low self esteem. Teenagers do not need to be bombarded with skinny models, ect. Their self esteem is low enough as it is.
