Cause they are greasy little burgers that are kinda slimey on the bun, and when you eat them, they just slide on down, and OUT!

From what I know, it came from an old White Castle advertisement years ago... y'know the mini burgers and they had a combo meal called something like Slyder/Slider Special... and recently in the movie "Harold & Kumar Goes to White Castle" they referred to them little burgers as sliders.
