My Grandfather was Rosicrucian, and my Father, and my brother...and I studied for a short time. I no longer take lessons, but they are still with me.
The knowledge thay have is good. Take it.
They are offering something and you pay for it with money. They will not ask anything else of you.

So, you're an agnostic. Well, the ultimate reality is you and you don't have to be unknown to yourself. That is where Rosicrucian Order, AMORC comes into play. This Order steers your consciousness upward toward the knowledge of Self. "Know ThySelf and thou shalt know the Universe and the Gods." Knowing what a thing is and how it works, makes it easier to control and use as you will. I'm a member of the Order. I enjoy the home study course that lovingly guides one along through an ocean of esoteric information and exercises. I believe the people in the Order are alot better than they would be if they were not Rosicrucians, that is just the nature of being enlightened and you can find them in meeting groups just about everywhere in the USA and quite a few places in the World. The administration of Rosicrucian Order, AMORC is professional, sharp and on the cutting edge of new technology to bring ancient wisdom and understanding to seekers old and new. The body of information at the Order is living, it grows, so in the Order you're not pulled back into the 17th century as some other groups would have you to be, wrapped in dogma. In Rosicrucian Order, AMORC, the bottom line is always that you can take it or leave it as your intellect dictates. Do your homework, initiate yourself into the information and you decide, not the Order. I've experienced many pros and absolutely no cons as a result of my membership in Rosicrucian Order, AMORC. I personally can't see how a seeker of light could stumble into the lineup presented in the booklet 'The Mastery of Life' and still have cold feet about getting in except he or she be sufferring from some form of superstitious fear. When I first saw that lineup years ago, I done a swan dive just hoping that they would be gracious enough to accept my application.

This order survived many centuries out of persuasion of its members and their dedication to preserve the Truth about Christ's teachings. In particular all those that were deleted, 325 years after the life of Christ, by those people who assembled the Bible. To date the bible was further edited some 1000 times, allagedly to modernise the language, but with each "modernization" some further editing took place to make the contents inobjectionable to those in power.
The Cathars in the Southern region of France were the holders off the full teachings of Christ, and they had the full knowledge of the Laws of the Universe and of the Divine Laws. Their societies were the most prosperous on Earth, their leaders lived in humility and people in comfort. The Cathars lived according to Christ's example. As they attracted more and more attention by other communities, they became perceived as "dangerous" by the pope and the Norther French nobility. Many crusades were made against the Cathars, and they were eventually annihilated in March 1244. With them, the full knowledge of the Universal and Divine laws was lost for 8 centuries.
The only knowldge of the Cathars and about them was gathered from personal accounts, and such knowledge was preserved by several "secret" orders, one of which were the Rosicrucians. They had to be secret, not because they would be doing anything sinister, but because they would have risked their lives if they congregated and communicated openly. To date the church is suppressing the truth about the Cathars.
It had been prophesied that the Cathars will return to Earth at the begining ofthe 21st Century to lead humanity into the Spiritual Age. The same was prophecied about Christ.
In February 2006 the 7 Laws of the Universe and the 7 Divine Laws were written up again, and they are now available on the Dhaxem website by clicking on "Rational Spirituality".

don't know much about the Rosicrucian's first hand but have been familiar with some of their teachings. there is definitely a difference between a secret society and a society with secrets. be warned that the secret society not only may be so secret one may not even know it exists. there are a number of societies with secrets including a number of fine fraternal orders both within the U.S. and elsewhere including some affiliated with the Catholic Church.

I know that I answered their ad and sent off for more information two different times several years apart, and never received anything back.
All I really know about them for sure is that they claim to have secret knowledge that others do not have.
I'm not sure if they qualify as a cult, but I don't believe they have any hidden knowledge that is necessary for living a good life.
And I'm not sure if other things I've heard about them are true or not, but I would personally recommend you save your time and money and don't get involved.
This is just my two-cents worth.

Mmmmm I would never join a secretive cult that has to advertise in Popular Mechanics. Here's a very short description of them at the God-U-Like website

Your mom is right. It's a bad thing to get involved with. It is a cult. Once you get involved with a cult it is extremely hard to leave if you find that it is not what you expected......which can be a serious safety issue.......I understand your need to be involved with something mysterious, but there are safer mysterious things to look into rather than cults.
It would be best to look for information about the freemasons because this is related. I don't know what your religion is, but belonging to a secret society if you are Catholic is a very serious sin and is forbidden. I know a lot about Freemasonry and it is not something to get involved with. Consider your eternal salvation. Best regards.
