I have just started a new job as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities. Does anyone know if this is considered working for the mental health sector?

Everyone is different ,people may have a learning disability without having a mental health problem and there will be people who have mental health problems without having a learning disability and there are peolple who cope with both. They are most definately not the same. Unfortunatley, some authorities manage both learning disabiIities and mental health depts. under the same umbrella, which can cause confusion.I have worked in both fields, for over25 years, which has been extremely rewarding.I wish you every success with your career.

No it is not. Mental health issues are neurobiologically based chemical inbalances. Learning issues are a completly different problem, although sometimes thos w/ LD may have other problems and vise versa.
