Step child lives w/step mom & her father since last year. S.M. has no bio kids/1st marriage. Bio mom speaks no English, lives in another country but requested father to kid till 2009. SC also wanted to come live with father/SM "for a few years". Example pf problem: S.C. agrees to not ask for toys/treats if she wants 2 go 2 drug store with you. 3 minutes in, she's asking. U both remind her of agreement. For next 3+ hours anything U / husband says to her is met with icy silence. SM is w/her more and gets the worst of it. SM asks SC, "Where is the document your teacher gave U for lunch?" and gets ignored. SM may say, "OK, Its 9:45 PM & time for bed." Silence & no movement. Unless SM has something SC wants (a DVD/pizza/etc) this can last until the next AM! Father works 90+ hr wkly & sometimes tells S.C. to stop but is NOT CONSISTANT (One day he tolerates it, next day her lectures her about the same thing) Additionally he's said 100Xs "no counseling!". How would U handle these behaviors?

Ignore her when she tries to communicate with you. She'll see how it feels. My 12 year old used to do the same to me, until I returned the favor.

Sometimes it's really hard for a child to adjust to a new environment She's really just after some attention trying to find her place. However the father should be firm on things and ignore the silent treatment. If she wants to be quiet it certainly won't hurt her she'll get tired of it and start talking again when she realizes she's not getting her way. Talk to her anyway, about ordinary everyday things she'll realize that she's still loved and will open up eventually. Good Luck

some men purely look to clam up and quit the verbal replace while they are 40 5 and over. It happens and dont think of that is with the aid of fact he doesnt love you, he's purely attempting to recover from the undeniable fact that he's getting previous. men have a tough time while they hit particular ranges of life and it sounds to me that he's hitting yet another milestone. Age is tramatic for men to boot as women individuals so purely try to understand yet additionally dont supply up. faster or later he will have a sturdy communication with you. purely make the attempt and he will ultimately come around.

Whenever she wants something maybe she should get the silent treatment. Kids don't understand that things can be taken away from them just as easily.

When she acts like this, take something away that she likes. When things get better and she listens reward her by giving it back.

It's worth a shot.

She's acting pretty much like a pubecent kid. I suggest very strongly that father stop working 90+hours a week and pay attention to HIS child.
