Get some RID or NIX and follow the directions. Most kits contain a nit comb. Get a good nit comb and thick conditioner and find a room with lots of light. Good nit combs are metal and typically cost ~$12 or more (e.g. LiceMeister or Nit Free Terminator comb). Without a good nit comb you will not be able to remove the eggs.
Disperse thick conditioner thoroughly through the hair of the affected person. Doing so will make the hair silky and much easier to comb through with fine tooth combs, and will also loosen the eggs so that they slide right off the strands.
Separate and clip the hair up into four sections and start combing, stopping to wipe the lice and eggs on a towel every few strokes. Continue until all the sections are done.
Repeat, wash the combs, and start again. You should comb through the hair until not a single egg or nit shows up! This will probably take an hour or so.
Pour a cup of white vinegar into a pitcher of water. Vinegar is also supposed to help loosen the eggs. Wash the hair out with the vinegar rinse and then with water.
Clean all of the infected person's contaminated belongings: clothes, towels, and bedding will need to be washed in hot water, (soap and bleach) and their mattress and room vacuumed thoroughly. Use the hottest setting on the dryer and dry for the longest time you can without harming the fabric.
Wait a day, and then repeat the process, sitting down, putting in the conditioner and combing through the hair. You could be be surprised after the last comb-through that the little parasites are back; although if they are, they should be back in greatly decreased numbers.
Again, comb through the hair until not one of the lice shows up. Repeat again. And again. And yet again. Usually two weeks will pass until all the lice are gone.

Good Luck!
Basically, you must "launder everything the hair came in contact with, or if you can't launder it, put it in a plastic bag in the freezer for 24 hours. Bleach all combs and brushes. Vacuum the carpets. Tea tree oil added to shampoo will kill the lice. I left the shampoo on my head overnight when I had lice, but I don't know if that's a good idea for kids because it's pretty strong. If you keep using this shampoo with tea tree oil for 10 days, it will kill any lice that crawl back on your head and the eggs when they hatch, because it can't kill all the eggs before they hatch. If you have any bad reaction stop using it and talk to a doctor, but I think tea tree oil is probably safer to use than anti lice shampoo with chemicals. Keep long hair in a braid, because when long hair gets staticy and flys around, lice get a free ride to other people's heads that way. Good luck getting rid of those things, they're a real pain!" courtesy of posted answer by dodge_mj

Yeah that RID stuff works pretty well. but unfortunately Lice can live in bedding and carpeting. and can be really difficult to clear out. Wash everything in hot water and bleach. colorsafe for colors and warm water. you may have to treat your matress w/ the spray, but sometimes you can just wrap it in a plastic dropcloth for a few weeks. n the lice will die off since they eat blood and dander.
Get a lice comb too, and use it w/ the RID according to the instructions and you should be okay.

There are several products on the market. I think RidX is one of them. The come in kits with a comb so you can comb all the nits out. You also need to wash all your bedding, pillows, pillowcases, sheets, blankets in hot water. Then you need to soak all your combs, brushes anything you put in you hair in a solution of bleach and water. Wash or throw away all your hats or things that you put on your head. Head lice are very shareable so don't share anything with anyone that comes in contact with your head!
good luck. Even nice clean people get head lice so don't be embarrased.

RidX or Nix can be bought at your local pharmacy and that should get rid of the problem.
Make sure to wash you pillow cases and sheets and I would wash all clothing too in very hot soapy water to kill off any eggs that may have fallen onto them.
After using the treatment I would also cut my nails all the way down to make sure nothing hid under them

You can use mayo, It kills the lice, but you need to make sure you get rid of the nits, you leave just one and you get reinfested, make sure you use rid, it is very hard on your hair but it works, put mayo in your hair , the lice don't like oil, it kills them,Blow dry your hair everyday, they don't like heat.
