WBC count may mean a viral or bacterial infection (it depends on what type of white blood cell is dramtically increased.)Sedimentation rate on the other hand is a test for a more complex disease but this should be supported by a clinical diagnosis. I mean if your doctor suspects you to have an infection then the sed. rate should be quite low. Hope this helps. God bless

Well, I had that issue as well a few weeks ago, Check my Questions and you will see my responses. In the end, when I was re-tested, I was fine and the cause of the high count was my Advair Diskus asthma inhaler.

my white blood cell count was high a few months ago and they put me in the hospital and found out that it was just UTI that was all.

usually bacterial infection, but the possibilities still wide, it could be allergic reaction, stress induced, etc. Viral infection is unlikely, usually less than 5.

I think it means that you have an infection s/w in your body. you should test this further just to be safe
