I can't find a bowl shaped cake pan anywhere! Can I use a glass batter bowl and trim the top? I am making a lady bug cake for my daughters birthday this weekend

Why not a regular round cake pan and a two cupcakes? Cool the cake and cut it in half -- like two half-moons. Arrange the half-moons on a cake plate with enough room between the "bottoms" to hold a cupcake. Use the second cupcake for the head. Frost and decorate.

You could use a glass mixing bowl if you don't bake the cake over 350F. You could also use a metal mixing bowl. Either way, don't fill the bowl more than 2/3 full like you would a cupcake or muffin pan.

The easiest way is to go to a store like Michael's and look for a cake pan in the right shape. Sometimes Wal-Mart has them too. Or do a search for football helmet cake pan on froogle. Good luck!

I have seen that recipe and I believe that you can use a glass bowl that can go into the oven. I think pampered chef has them...i would use the glass bowl.

you can use a glass bowl. Make sure it is pyrex or oven safe and also bake 25 degrees lower so not to burn.

Try a stainless steel bowl; grease and flour it so it won't stick, and there you go.
