What is it and where can I get it? Is there an easy to follow recipe that I can do myself?

1. Preheat the broiler to high and toast the bread lightly on both sides.
2. Cut off the crusts and then, holding the toast flat, slide a sharp knife between the toasted edges to split the bread so that you now have 8 slices that are toasted only on one side.
3. Cut each piece into 4 triangles, and then toast under the broiler, untoasted sides uppermost, until golden and the edges curl.
4. Serve warm with soup.
5. Alternatively, make Melba toast earlier in the day, and warm for a short time in the oven at 170ºC/ 325ºF/ Gas Mark 3 before serving.

Its easier to buy it ready made but if you wish to try your hand at making it here is a recipe. Its very simple to make too.
Melba Toast Recipe

* 1 long thin loaf of French bread
* butter, softened
* fresh grated Parmesan cheese

PREPARATION:
Slice loaf into 1/4-inch slices. Spread slices with butter then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Place on a cake rack or other rack over a baking sheet, so drips will be caught and air will move around the slices.
Bake at 325° for about 20 minutes, or until dry and very crispy.

Its great with soups or salads or even with your favorite dip.

you can buy it at Wal-Mart. BTW Melba toast is Melba bread that you can just put in the deep fryer and fry up till crispy....Just buy it pre-made, its easier than doing it yourself.

It's this kind of bite-sized bread baked dry, so it has the crunchiness of crackers. It should be available in your local supermarket. very handy for party finger food!

just try these toppings:
-salmon & philly cheese, garnish with a dille leave
-tuna salad, garnish with caviaar
-prawn salad, garnish with caviaar
-ham & cheese, garnish with half a cherry tomato

You can buy it in the cracker section at the grocery store. I don't know of a recipe for making it, though.
