I must say, that as I read many answers on the news and politics items on this website I am a little surprised at the hostility and black and white confidence shown by contributors- high on emotive stuff and expletives and low on information accuracy.
The Republican block appear to accuse the Democrats of having no "balls" and supporting terrorists and not loving America, and the Democrats accuse the Republicans of lying, increasing terrorism worldwide by their actions and using patriotism as a defence for torture and abuse of human rights.
Is there a bottom for the Democrats? It is hard to imagine them getting lower after failing to beat Bush at the last election when he should really have been thrown out. Whilst George Bush is trying to impose Bush democracy in the Middle East one has to say that it is hard to imagine anyone selling a democracy with torture, no trial, phone tapping, corruption, etc etc The biggest problem in the quality of a democracy is not so much in its leadership, but in the effectiveness and strength of the opposition. If there is no viable opposition, if there is no alternative choice to be made, if there is no clear unequivocal voice arguing for a better way, then there can be no true democracy.
In the UK the same can be said of a failure of opposition. An over eloquent and credible Blair and an incompetent opposition.
Is there a bottom for the Democrats to hit? Yes If they cannot win the next presidency.

There is no denying that there are lying jerks in all political parties. But I could ask the same about Republicans, is there bottom to low to hit, or do they not care and the answer would be, most of them just don't care unless you have big $$$$$$ then all of the sudden they care about what ever you want them to care about.

I really don't know why they continue to get bogged down in this sort of thing. They really should start addressing issues instead of telling lies and half truths, and repeating innuendo about their opponents. It would be very helpful to them if they could come up with a comprehensive, sensible plan on how to win the war on terror and start addressing and solving issues.
