is there any place to buy compaq recovery cds or dvds at low price?

i made a mistake of not making the recovery cds from the hard drive and now i can't even boot up windows to do it. only the compaq screen comes up. thanks for help

Since each computer has a unique configuration you may have trouble finding exactly what you need in one place.

If your system is in bad shape, which it sounds like to me, have you considered reinstalling everything from scratch. If you still have the original windows cd you should be able to boot up using that. From there it's a matter of installing the correct drivers for each component of your PC. It may sound like a daunting task, but it 's worth the effort. You'll learn a lot about how this stuff works and you'll be less intimidated to dig in and fix things up it the future. What did you do to your poor machine?
Boot to the BIOS and see if your hard drive is listed. You should be able to see if it's a primary master and what size and type it is. If your BIOS doesn't see the hard drive it may be broken but you might be able to push the connectors on a little better. Make sure the power cable and the ribbon cable are fimly seated. Reboot and go to the Bios again - is it there?

Another hope is booting off the Windows CD and running a repair install. Another hope is booting off the CD to a command prompt and running sfc/scannow from the command prompt. Another hope is running chkdsk/f from the command promt. All of this assumes a good hard drive. Good luck.

I doubt you can buy them, but you may be able to get someone to make them for you. If not, try contacting your computer retailer or manufacturer and ask them for the discs.
