I've looked the name up in the local phone book but had no luck. Is there a place i can send them?

Take them to the nearest recruiting office. Or V.A. hospital if there's one near you.

Call the armed service to find out where this person lives so as you can send them to him. If God forbid anything happened to him ,His family I'm sure would love to have them.

Have you tried using Yahoo's People Search feature? You may be able to try there.

You could try your local VFW post they have information on everything military.
