A man wakes up in the middle of the night.
He goes downstairs to the kitchen to get a drink.
He returns upstairs to his bedroom, turns of the light and goes back to sleep.
In the morning he wakes up and looks out the window.
When he realises what he has done he can not live with himself and hurls himself from the window to his certain death.
What happened?

Although all the information you need to answer this is there (as long as you can think outside the box) I will still answer anyquestions if you ask them... Only yes or no answers though.
Looking forward to your guesses.

It is impossible if you don't ask questions which is why I suggested asking questions. I got it after 3 questions so it is quite doable. Anyway that is all redundant now cos quite a few people who had done it before decided to ruin it for those who hadn't. Bet they were the same smart ar**s who put their hands up first in school and never gave anyone else a chance. Now working as civil servants no doubt. Anyway the ten points is going to the best new answer and not who got it correct first.

As the light had been on, when he returned to the bedroom, he realised he'd just displayed his tackle to anyone who might be looking, and because it's so small and he was so proud, decided to end it all.

It's easy. Sorry I hadn't answered before; I had not seen it.
The man is a lighthouse-keeper.
After he turned off the light at night, a ship crushed in the land, because the lighthouse wasn't working.
The people on the ship drowned and the lighthouse-keeper, when he realised what he had done, killed himself.

He worked in the lighthouse. It's impossible for anyone to know the answer to that unless they know exactly what you are talking about or have seen this before.
