I heard from someone that women in Canada are not able to find out what they are having. Because the doctors are not permited to let them know. Does anyone know this to be true or false. Because I feel that's f**k up for the women that want to know.

Some countries don't allow medical professionals to divulge the sex of a foetus before a certain time - so that people don't get an abortion if it's the "wrong" sex. It's very sad, but true. I don't know if the Canadian health service has rules along those lines, though.

It's partly true. Some hospitals won't tell you the gender because in the past they have been sued for being wrong. I live in Canada and my friend is having a baby and none of the hospitals in our city will tell her the sex. She's probably going to another province to find out.

No that is not true I am on my third pg and the first time they didn't tell me because they were not sure the administrator won't tell you unless there a 100%. My doctor told me the second time she could not see as the legs were closed but sure enough the next time she told me it was a girl and I am planning to find out this time as well

I was told the same thing by my mail man. His daughter lives in Canada and she was not able to find out on either of her kids. I did hear that a lot of women will go crossed the border to like fetal foto and find out. I would I don't think I could wait until the baby was born.

It depends from facility to facility. Just because one place says they can't tell you, that's not speaking for the whole country. I had 4 babies in 3 different towns. 2 of my kids they wouldn't tell me. 1 of my kids they wouldn't tell me but they showed me on the U/S. The other one, the tech told me. It just all depends on the facility's policies.

And I have never set foot on a dog sled at any time of the year in my 35yrs of living here.

I can't tell you if it's true in Canada but where I live, there is a high population of Asians here and they have the same rule for everyone because of their religion. They aren't allowed to tell them so it means that we aren't allowed to know either.

What a load of crap.

I have heard that here in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the maternity hospital will only reveal the sex of the baby in high-risk pregnancies.
