I like the looks of this car, but I need to know how it drives, runs, dependability, gas mileage, etc. before I buy one. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I have one, and I have mixed feelings about it at times. I love the sportiness and fun of it. Mine gets about 25-30 miles a gallon depending on what kind of roads I'm driving on. The only real trouble I have had with mine is the wheel bearings, and the bar that connects to the tires in the front end. I bought it brand new off the lot, it's very dependable, I love that I can get in it and not have to worry about having trouble with it starting, and it drives great as long as the normal maintenance is kept up with it. I can definently tell a difference in the way it drives though at times. It needs oil changes at about the recommended 3,000 miles or it starts to get sluggish on pickup. 95% of the time I would have to say that I love it though.

Ever heard of the H file? It refers to a group of files that, over several years, Mitsubishi received on product defects and conveniently ignored.

This first came to light in 2000 when the issue was approached. Since then, I'm sure that Mitsubishi has tried to clean up its corporate image, but something like this would be a consideration of mine before buying any of their cars, new or used.

Most Japanese are. However it might be made by the Dodge plant, and they make crappy transmissions. Always make sure timing belt has been changed, and if automatic, has it been serviced. Also if Automatic add a aftermarket trans cooler ( about $25.). Well worth the money,as none of the cars have good enough cooling for their transmissions. My Dad had a 1962 Mercury go 352,000 miles same tranny, serviced every 50,000, and had a cooler on it.

I had a 1999, and a 2001 eclipse, and they were okay cars. The 99 had transmission issues, that's when I got the 2001. They lose their value very quickly though.

check out reviews on kbb.com and edmunds.com for the 2006 model year. I know the older turbo models used to have problems, but I really haven't heard anything bad about the newer non-turbo ones.
