Almost every moring I have woken up with a weird popping in my jaw, and I never thought anything of it until this morning, I woke up and couldn't open my jaw!!! It didnt hurt, it just popped open with a really loud snap and it did that over and over and now it is just fine, working normal. Does anyone have a clue what this could be? I was reading on the internet trying to find something and everthing says something different, should I see a dr or a dentist? Please help thank you

It sounds like TMJ, and you can actually see your dentist for this condition if you dont want to go to the md.The problem is in the temporalmandibular joint, the joint from the temple to the jaw bone (mandible). Certain things can actually cause the condition to worsen, such as chewing gum. Good luck.
p.s. one of the causes of tmj is gringing your teeth at night. More than likely, if you do it in your sleep, then you also do it awake and are not aware of it.

TMJ. Do u grind ur teeth in ur sleep? The dentist can make a splint for that. Good that it doesn't hurt u. It hurts me pretty bad. The splint helps a lot.

Sounds like u grind your teeth at night, go to the sporting goods store and get a good mouth piece and try sleeping with that in....it should help if that is the cause and it is way cheaper than goin and getting one fitted at the dentist

See your dentist. Mine explained that the popping was caused by grinding my teeth at night and I wore a protective thing at night for a while til it stopped. No further problems with it. He said the grinding was from stress.
