When we rise up to meet Christ in the air, our former body will be restored-- And in Heaven, no crying, no sadness, no more pain--isn't it AWESOME?

I just went to a funeral yesterday for my aunt, not even 68 yet, but we know her body is restored to the one it once was and that she is beholding the face of Jesus! Pure happiness!

It is all in this beautiful setting. Heaven, someone has well said, is the place of "no more" -- no more death, no more sorrow, no more parting, no more pain, no more tears, no more evil! As a young Christian I learned a song which I often sing to myself even yet:

There's no disappointment in heaven,
No weariness, sorrow, no pain,
No hearts that are bleeding and broken,
No song with a minor refrain.
The clouds of our earthly horizon
Shall never appear in the sky.
But all will be sunshine and gladness,
With never a sob nor a sigh.

A wonderful hope, isn't it? It is so beautiful that it is even hard to believe. I think John felt that way for he is given at this point certain words of assurance to help him with his possible doubt.

This passage is a promise from God to the people who survived the Tribulation and their righteous children born during the Milennial Reign. This is not a promise to those who are in Heaven, since they are already immune from death and sorrow.

Instead, these people are the "nations" mentioned in Rev. 20:3 and 8, and 21:24 and 26. During this time, these righteous humans will not die; however, any unrighteous children born to them will die at about 100 years of age (Isaiah 65:20). After the end of the Milennial Reign, Jesus will hand the earth over to the Father (Rev. 21:3) and they will reside on the earth permanently, among humans. At that time, God will permanently remove death and suffering from these human beings, making them immortal. However, the "nations" are a distinctly separate class of individuals than those who were Raptured, the righteous who died during the Tribulation and the OT saints who were resurrected -- these three groups of folks reside in the "New Jerusalem" and are variously referred to as the Bride of Christ (NT saints) and the Bride of Jehovah (OT Jewish saints).

I hope this helps. Peace.

My understanding of this scripture is that John is speaking about when we meet with the Lord in Heaven. The tears will be tears of Joy when we see our Savior for the first time. Nothing in Heaven will be like it was on earth, no pain , no sorrow, no death. All the former things(things of earth) are passed away. It will be a great day, see you there!

All effects of former trouble shall be done away. They have often been in tears, by reason of sin, of affliction, of the calamities of the church; but no signs, no remembrance of former sorrows shall remain. Christ makes all things new. - Matthew Henry

when all is said and done, and Satan has been defeated, God will wipe the tears from our eyes and there will be no more death, sorrow, or crying. we will no longer remember the bad things that we had to endure in this life.
