While yes, people in the KKK were killing while holding a bible other people were trying to stop them while holding a bible. What about the alcoholic father who puts down the bottle to play with his kid instead of getting drunk yet again from something he heard a preacher say......or what about the fact that God gives people hope? You may say people who believe in a God are ignorant or duped....but its good for most thinking that you always have someone by your side. So, what do you all think....what is something that you have seen good happen?

Good news doesn't sell and doesn't make good gossip.

there are good things happening everyday that GOD creates and gives to us. Not just the obvious- we wake up ( GOd gives us breath) or that we can see a sunrise ( GOD gives us beauty to behold and sight to enjoy it ) or the sound of birds chirping or horses neighing or anything that makes you think " ahhhh ".
BUT we are too quick to say that little voice that said " slow down " that put us 3 seconds away from the accident or the niggling feeling that we need to have something checked and it turns out to be cancer but hey w caught it in time and it is curable. Those feelings come from GOD and if we listen we are spared a lot of suffering.
I personally had a feeling that I needed to change my light fixtures. It ate at me all week - keep in mind that my fixtures appeared fine on the surface. When I went to change my bathroom fixture it was hot to the touch and had already made the insulation black where it had a continual current to it. This would have eventually caught fire and burned my house to the ground. I thank GOD for that voice because I know it was him that warned me. There are so many incidences that I cannot begin to name them.
I am buying my dream home- saw it in the paper on friday- looked at it on saturday again on sunday with my daughter and today I am going to sign the papers. Coindince- no. It was a gut feeling I went with and a calm peaceful feeling that this is the right thing to do. ALL can be attributed to GOD an my faith that HE takes care of the things I don't need to worry about. HE is my father and I trust Him.
I don't chalk things up to coindince or fate. We make choices and if we listen for GOD to lead us we can make choices that are right for us at the time and we will not be fearful from them.

As a Red Cross volunteerI have seen families reunited after they prayed-some were Christian some were other beliefs. I could write a book on the God works of our fellow humans but sadly all we hear about is the horrible stuff- sells more newspapers.
Sit some time on a park bench where there are a lot of folks and watch all the good works happen.

I think that you bring up a very good point. You always hear a thousand bad things to every one good thing. I once heard of a Christian man that was going to be in a debate with an atheist, and the Christian said he would be there with 100 people he knows that have come out of poverty, drunkeness, gangs, etc because they found the Lord, if he could just bring 1 person that came out of those bad times when they found atheism. The atheist called off the debate.

Generally speaking, people love to look at the bad things. That's why gossip papers do so much business.

There is real beauty that comes from people of faith.

The first steps towards equality for women and freedom for slaves were made by deeply religious people. There is an old Quaker hymn called "How can I keep from Singing?" That was written by a young man imprisioned by the Puritan government for speaking out on these issues. Many Quakers were accused of witchcraft and executed so that we women could have equal rights and also to end slavery.

The first schools for freed slaves were created by women of deep faith. Many of them were murdered for it.

Missionaries who go out with educational supplies and medical supplies to help people in need.

Generous donations to relief of poverty and sickness made by people of faith.

There is a big like about the so called "hitler's pope" but we have hitler and einstein who both said only the pope stood firmly against hitler and his actions.

My own name saint, Maximilian Mary Kolbe gave his life for another man in Auschwitz.

Much has been made about the Nicean Council due to Dan Brown's DaVinci Code. Sadly people take Brown's book as fact rather than fiction. Constantine did not invent Christianity. Up until that date, Christianity was illegal. He called the council to make it legal. Many of the 300 bishops who showed up were still carrying scars and open wounds of their persecution at the hands of the Romans. Many believed it was a trap, but came anyway. Why? Because they believed in Jesus's teachings. They were willing to risk their lives for the chance to use those teachings to make the world a better place.

It's truly sad that so many need to use God to justify their hate.

I think that religion really has no bearing on good or bad in people. A bad person will find just as much justification in their negative actions from religion as a good person will.

Religions are a path towards God. But they can also lead the power hungry away as they get caught up in all the dogma, heirarchy, pride and priviledge that religion can tempt us with.

Many people prefer to talk about the bad / negative instead of up-lifting one another (edifying).

I have seen a complete 180 in my life. God / Jesus has blessed me (and my family) in so many ways...I've lost count.

I'm not the same person I was before I invited Christ back into my life.

GOD / JESUS ROCKS!!!

A man was invited to our church. He was planning on going home to commit suicide later that day. The worship music started in, praising God and giving thanks. He was transformed and gave his heart to God.

When God is praised, God is there.
