It is not compulsory, to put underwear on a corpse .,

but ,should the relatives want their loved ones,
to be fully dressed; they can be dressed

in all that they would wear in life, (including shoes and underwear )

There is no strict ruling to say, they must wear a shroud .

Some people specify, what they want to wear themselves before they die

Yes, we do put underwear on them. I keep extra packs of new underwear to put on people just in case they don't bring some. And for the person who said that we only dress people from the waist up, that is just plain silly. Of course we completely clothe them and we are very respectable and dignified when dealing with the dead. We put shoes on if the family requests it and brings a pair for them to wear.

When my grandma and mom died, we were told to bring a complete set of clothing, including hosiery, etc. So I believe they do dress them properly or accordingy to your wishes. Contrary to what some people think, most people in the funeral industry do their professional duties with dignity and have the family's best interests at heart. It's really for the family after all.

If so I want mine to be edible. Makes it easier for the worms to digest and leaves a pleasant aftertaste I'm told.

LOL! Good question. Never thought about that one. I think I'll ask everyone in my office. There's always a good time for a good laugh.
