You did not say how many MP your camera is, so let me guess it's 5 MP, since I have already done the math for that figure.

Put the card in your camera and see how many frames it says you can still hold on the card. That's the only really accurate way. Well, even that is an approximation, because the camera does not know how large your next picture will be. It's like your car predicting how many miles of fuel you have remaining in the tank when it doesn't know if you are about to smach the gas pedal to the floor. For instance, if you take a picture with a lot of more-or-less uniform sky in it, the memory used for a full 5 MP picture will be considerably lower than a 5 MP picture with huge amounts of detail.

If you are thinking of buying a 512 MB card and don't have one to check by putting in your camera, look in your owner's manual.

If you lost your manual, you can do some estimates and some calculations. A 5 MP camera will make files about 3-3.5 MB in size for an "average" full size, maximum resolution picture. Sometimes more and sometimes less. The theoretical MAXIMUM would be 5 MB, right?

512 million divided by 5 million = about 100 pictures.

If the real file size will be 3.5 MP, though:

512 million divided by 3.5 million = about 145 pictures.

Do the math to draw your own conclusions about lesser file sizes.

If you shoot a mid-size photo with "normal" resolution, you might even be able to get about a thousand on the card. Check your manual for details.

It is dependent on the size of each pictures, which is determined by the resolution (pixel) of the image. Typically at least 300 5.0 Mega Pixels pictures should fit on a 512 MB flash card. the lower the pixel the more pictures you can store.

Depends how big the pictures are - my Nikon D70 SLR takes 6 megapixel (RAW/NEF) pictures about 5Mb. My newer Casio Z850 is more efficient (I guess) fitting 8 megapixels into the same 5Mb.

But if you can't fit enough pictures on your card, you can either set picture resolution down on the camera, edit the stored pictures (delete unwanted pictures) or buy a bigger card - I have 3 1Gb cards & they do OK.

Depends on:

* Resolution
* Size of Picture

If you set those to medium on both, you should get about 2000 pics. (For a 3 megapixel camera)
