Has the last 5, 10, 20, 50 years shown things to be far different from when you were younger and still hitting the books?

Most definitely! I went to an all girls highschool and was constantly given out to for being too 'brainy'.... Also, I guess the fact that I was friends with some of the more desireable teachers probably didn't help. That said, all the girls who were too busy chasing boys and polluting the school toilets with hairspray (it actually got banned at the school eventually...), are now living unfulfilled lives, have lost thier looks and are in unhappy relationships - wih the boys they were dating back then.
I however, was a late bloomer and am thankful for it! I have a great life, had an absolute ball in my 20's and have two degrees. Life has a way of turning around but then I always had an inkling it would. ; )
