Here is my favorite trick:
I place all my blackened pans in a large black trash bag. Pour in 1 cup of ammonia-over the pans. Use a twistie to close it up tight. Set it in the yard for about 1 week.
After 1 week, check it. You can usually wipe the black stuff off with a paper towel. If not, put it back tied up tight and leave another few days.
Voila! No scrubbing.
Do not use on cast iron or other porous materials.POISON!

You need to try a can of Bar Keepers Friend. I use that and a paper towel for the bottom of my pans. For really burnt on stains, I use BKF and one of those flat scouring pads.

I buy the cheap kind of scouring pads and cut them in section of about four to one pad. After I use one, I toss it as they are like sponges. If you reuse them, you have a lot of bacteria.

BKF also removes rust stains on anything I have ever tried. You just make a past of it, let it set on the stain for about 1/2 hour and launder a usual.

Try it. You'll love it!

I use bleach and water. Since it's a saucepan you don't need much bleach. Leave it over night!!! Guaranteed it'll be clean!

Put vinegar in the pot. Enough to cover the bottom. No water needed. Scrub pot after 24 hours.

Repeat process until completely clean.

Just depends on how much food is burnt on pot.

Salt and a lemon half works also. There is a clenser called bar keepers friend that is designed for stainless steel also.

i love to use Klean King. it works perfectly. It's just a powder you sprinkle on and scrub for, like two seconds and it comes right off. Plus it does not have any smell. it will also clean up your copper. and here is a little tip... cooking spray!!!

try using an acid, such as vinigar, tomato sauce, let it set for 10-20 min. then scrub. Also using a granulated dish detergent(cascade)works. If all else fails use easy-off.

Try easy off

if that fails

I use steel wool, or really bad, I use very very fine sand paper, it is so fine, it feels smooth, also can be used wet.
Works great.
