Some people say they "nearly died laughing", but has anyone ever done so? I guess people may have had a heart attack through the physical exertion, but is it possible to have "excess laughter" on a death certificate?

I doubt it but I guess anything is possible. The laughter would have to trigger some sort of already existing medical condition the person has. I doubt a healthy person laughing too hard could die from it. Usually people with such medical conditions are old people and they dont have a sense of humor :p

That is why they are saying that tickling a child is a form of child abuse because when you tickle some kids, they laugh soo hard that they can't catch their breathe and then they start having breathing problems. You can laugh soo hard that you can actually go into having some type of either an asthma attack or a seizure.
So, yes, it is possible that you can laugh so hard that you can actually "die laughing".

never heard of it but when you laugh too much you tend to lose your breathe and in some extreme cases you can have a hard time catching your breathe.
it could be dangerous for babies since their lungs are not as developed as adults, that explains why adults warn other not to make babies laugh too hard, they might consider it a form of choking, suffocating.

Laughing in it's self to my knowledge has never killed any one, however, it can trigger respiratory or cardiac distress if it is excessive enough. With this in mind it is not impossible for death to occur.
