One of the greatest ever, his 18 victories & 11 consecutive may never be equalled (even thought it was during the war years when competion was weaker it was a great feat). Retired at age 34 and became a true philanthropist. What he did for mankind is greater than what he did on the golf course. A true gentleman and all class. His life should truly be celebrated.

His place is as a part of the great trio born in 1912 of Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, and Nelson. Nelson, however, may have been the low man of the 3. Snead won more tournaments, and Hogan won more majors. Nelson's streak of 11 straight wins came during the war, when most players were overseas. Byron Nelson is one of the all-time greats, but is probably not in the top 10.

Byron Nelson was given the honorary title of LORD Byron Nelson because of his gentlemanly manors.

A better question might have been who is Brayden Bozack (spelling) the next upcoming golfer currently 2 years old playing in his first tournament, at Glen Eagles Country Club Plano TX

the lil guy has a great swing and consistantly hits the ball 60yds

Right up there with Jim Brown ...why Jim Brown you ask?.....cause although I never watched him play...it sounds like he quit at too young an age (34-35).....18 wins and 11 in a row in 1945......WOW!.....the game is too strong with good players today for that to ever be broken....they might break Dimaggio's 56 game streak but no one will touch the 11 in a row......OH! wait a minute....didn't Babe Didrikson win 17 in a row?.......back to Nelson.....he was the Babe Ruth or Wayne Gretzky of Golf!

The man brought professional golf to the forefront in the mid 40's like Tiger did 8 years ago. He never had a cross word about anyone and his swing was like BUTTER!
