They do not all your personal business!!!! (which everyone seems to tell!!). They want to know about your experience/education that relates to the job you are applying for. You can mix in your accomplishments, work habits and things you like to do -work wise.

They are trying to find positive things about you that would give them reasons to hire you. Do you have any quality's about yourself that pertain to the job. Are you easy to get along with? Are you punctual? How are you at following instructions? Are you able to work independently without supervision or do you need to work with someone? I'm sure they don't want to know if you get up every day at 6 and walk the dog. They probably don't want to know how many pairs of socks you have or that you watch TV every day at 5.

Just answer something like this: Well, gentlemen, I am 21 years of age, single, a non-drinker and a non-smoker. I live in quite a nice flat on the outskirts of town. I play golf to a handicap of 12. I like Italian holidays and Italian food. I am healthy and seldom if ever sick..................

They are looking for how confident you are, how you sell yourself in relation to the job you are applying for. Speak of your skills and be proud of your achievements.

I'd go with your first answer. They're looking for a summary of your work experience and skills and talents--related to work.

They want to see if you have the necessary skills and motivation for the Job.
Two things:
Can he do it? which is the skill bit
Will he do it? which is the motivation bit

i always answer honestly. I am who I am, and if you do not know yourself that would be the only reason this question could be difficult.
