You access your Control Panel in Windows, select Add/Remove Programs, and then find the Symantec or Norton Internet Security selection in the list. You then select it, and then select the option to Remove, uninstall, or delete (it's a button that should appear on the right-hand side of the selection).
Once this is complete, the computer may require a reboot. Do so, the install 2006.
You should ALWAYS use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall/delete programs loaded on your computer - it helps get rid of the registry hooks.

In the Norton folder in your START menu, you should see the UNINSTALL. If that does not work, open your CONTROL panel, and use ADD/REMOVE Programs. Look for it in that list.
If that still does now work, then go to http://www.symantec.com and type " Removing Norton Antivirus 2005 " in the search box and look for the the article "Error: "Norton AntiVirus 2005 uninstallation has failed..." when uninstalling using Windows Add/Remove Programs"
After this is successful, then REBOOT your computer TWICE. Yes, I said TWO TIMES.

right click on the norton icon on the desktop.
on the drop down menu click delete.
when it says if you want to delete it, click where it says Add or Remove programs.
Find Norton on the list of programs, select it and click uninstall.
follow the directions that it gives you.
