Yes. If it does not, it is going to be a problem for the entire community, police officers should be of high moral character and never have been in serious trouble with the law. A Police Officer with a criminal record is unacceptable.

Depends on what it is? Many officers today have some minor criminal record. Of course if you are convicted of a capital crime than, no way you will be a police officer.

In my experience, the police officer's I have known were angels and still did not get in. I believe there is family history that can effect you negatively. You should still try!!!!

If the crime was a misdemeanor, it will be disregarded, however a felony will block such an application. The same is true for more security firms and government positions. Drug offenses will also negate application at such places.

You bet it would! but it also depends on what kind of record it is. If you have felony record yes, and if it ahs to do with domestic violence yes, and if you had anything to do with drugs then yes it does affect you getting on with the police dept.
