The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant with just a sling and a stone, while surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors shaking in their armor wishing they'd have had the strength to stand?

It worked for David, and he was just a kid, emagin me.

I believe that God gives us the strength necessary to go before a giant like Goliath and win.

You're easily impressed. Could a skilled slinger take down ECW's Big Show? You betcha. And faith has nothing to do with it. David was a skilled and confident slinger against an overconfident in-fighter. I've fought out of my weight class and beaten men literally twice my size many times. people do this every day. Some of them stepped onto the floor with crosses on their uniforms and their faith didn't save them. Probably 90% of our troops who've died in Iraq were Christians. Did they all lack faith? They were probably in most part brave men and women. Some were certainly pious men and women. But faith doesn't deflect bullets, and neither victory nor defeat tell us anything about someone's faith or character.

David shot first in a duel. The Old West had hundreds of such scenes. real courage would have been to look Saul in the eye and say, "I'm not killing someone so you can live a life of luxury, King."

I sure hope I would.
I would have to be in that position and I know that He would give me the strength and faith to stand. The REAL question is do we have the faith to stand in the little things?
David drove away lions and bears first while protecting the sheep.

That's just dumb. Much better to stand behind said giant with a .45 desert eagle. Safer too.

You're asking the question like you think that actually happened at some point in history.

Sorry, the bible is a lot of things, history is not one of them.

Faith is delusional, and "knowledge" acquired through faith alone is suspect

These days wouldn't it be better to ask this same question in terms that people can actually comprehend ? When asked in this format they can't get the true impact .
I not only believe in God , trust in God , have faith in God but I Know God . When we finally reach this Plato can say we have true strength { from } God !

Well, I've always said there's a fine line between courage and insanity. There's an even finer line between faith and insanity. You don't believe that story is literally true, do you?
