A small piece of leather or anything else that is cheap and safe-they seem to always enjoy the cheap stuff more than the expensive- attached to the sides or top of cage works for my birds. One thing to remember with cockatiels (at least all that I have ever had) is they don't like bright colors-nuetrals are best.
Good Luck!

My cockatiels ave these mineral cookies that hang on edible rubber ropes with a bell at the bottom of them. All of my cockatiels play with them and really enjoy them, not to mention that everything on them except for the bell is edible. You can get these at your local pet shop, they run around $8 each.

This might sound a bit odd to you but I had the same issue with my Cockatoo. I ended up going to a variety store and hung baby toys in his cage, small rattles and teething rings. Bird toys can be very expensive. If you have a Dollar store near you check it out. Mine also like simple Popsicle sticks and clothes pins. Often they become interested in what you handle. Try sitting near the cage handling the items prior to giving them to him. . This will initiate his curiosity. Try smaller easier to handle items. It took forever for my birds to become coordinated and unafraid of items. Good luck.

Sometimes birds don't notice the toy at first. It can take months so don't give up hope! Don't overcrowd the cage though :) A good idea is to get a special foot toy bucket and put foot toys in the bucket!

all birds have different personalities,,some could care less if you fill their cage with lots of toys..remove what he doesn't like..if the bird doesn't start to play with it within the same day as given..then it won't all at.if your cockatiel is the only one in the cage,,,,get him a mirror.....

it's not a toy but it is wonderful entertainment
just cut some small branches from the willow
tree and put them in the cage, they chew up the
leaves and peel all the bark, keeps them busy
all day & good for them

Try a couple of mirrors.....I swear, mine was totally in love with himself! The vet also said that he wouldn't feel lonely...sometimes they think there is another there with them. I switched off between 2 and 3 in various places......Good Luck!
