Has anyone ever encountered somebody with narcissistic personality disorder? I had the unfortunate experience of falling in love with girl who clearly had a pathalogical case.

My mother-in-law has it. Not very good for you to be in love with this girl. It can be a very lonely life for loved ones.

Go to these site for support:

Yes: the characteristic belief being 'I'm special and nobody understands me and my success/wonderful attributes go unnoticed and unrewarded.'

Associated characteristics can be: sabotaging projects/ relationships 'everything else went wrong so this one will as well so I may as well get out now ...;' absorbing huge amounts of emotional energy and becoming a counselling junkie; living in the past or the future but never the present; and dissatisfaction with body image etc.

That which is necessary to achieve a more whole person is the ability to accept that the here and now can be good (even perfect!) but it can be a tough journey. And if you've fallen in love with someone like that, unfortunately you're by definition unlikely to be able to help them because of the 'counselling junkie' bit.

Good luck with whatever the future holds - for each of you.

Out of my 3-daughters, the middle one seems to be suffering from narcissistic personality disorder. This is because, she started dieting to remain slim and now she is almost suffering from malnutrition and related illness. Still her desire to be looking best is not diminished and her diet is not getting any better due to prolong absence nutritious food.
