In the media is the thought that things are worse. Isn't it possible that the Lord is just shining His light on our enemies & so what we didn't see yesterday, we see today?

Terrorism has been going on since genocides.

Hmmm.. just because we were fooling ourselves right up until 9/11 about how safe we were doesn't mean we were safe at all. That was the 2nd attack by the Islamoterrorists on the WTC in 8 years!

Today, there is a significantly greater focus and effort on preventing terrorists from harming us. Our security measures are better. Our intelligence communities are no longer prevented by bad legacy policies preventing sharing of information between intelligence and law-enforcement. Our intelligence agencies also no longer have shrinking budgets or prohibitions against working with 'not nice' people to gather info.

Through decisive military action, we have removed Afghanistan as a base of action for Al Qaeda, and in Iraq, have removed the financial and training support for the terrorists, as well as the potential for WMD access.

So, insofar as we are more prepared, have better intelligence and intelligence gathering programs in place, and have taken away supporting countries, then yes, we are indeed better prepared to meet the threat.

Have our actions increased the numbers of idiot Muslims who seek to die for some bizarre sexual paradise? Sure. But let us not forget their numbers were on the increase, anyway, after the success of 9/11.

if you're severe about this challenge i will answer. of route it really is my opinion. u . s . a . of america isn't extra secure for the reason that 9/11. the only element the gov't has done is somewhat boost the safe practices of monetary air flights. there has been no longer something done to maintain our borders. there has been no longer something done to song down and deport each and each of the unlawful extraterrestrial beings in our us of a. the only element that has been done is to change into inquisitive a pair of conflict that cannot be received. The chief of the persons who performed the attack of 9/11 remains at large and could of route by no skill be captured and presented to justice. This us of a wouldn't have a military sufficiently vast to have the capacity to prevailing the conflict in Iraq and protecting our borders. Is u . s . a . of america extra secure? i imagine no longer! the chinese attempt to kill us off with counterfeit drugs that are both poisonous or completely ineffictive. shall we no longer ignore the lead depending painted toys and product that are being imported from China through the ten's of 1000's which will/can poison our youthful toddlers! No u . s . a . of america isn't almost as danger-free now as we were earlier 9/11. the reason being our federal gov't only received't do something to guard us!

I think our sense of safety was taken away on 9/11. I, for one, never thought we would be attacked on our own soil. But as time goes on, I am feeling safer, but still very aware that another attack could happen because a lot of countries don't like the US and what we stand for. Overall, I do feel safer now that I did right after 9/11, but not as safe as I felt before 9/11 (if that makes sense)!!

I believe that America is more *aware* which makes us slightly safer now than we were prior to 9/11.

I think we have to take what we hear from the media with a grain of salt, at least the initial reports.

The media is in the business of breaking the news, especially over the past half decade or so. Being the first to report a story seems to be more important than reporting the story accurately. Notice how they have to clean up what they initially report for days afterwards?

The Lord is not going to interfere with what is happening today. I don't believe he is shining a light anywhere. If you choose to believe, God created the earth and put man on the earth and gave him free will to make of his existence what he chooses. *If* the Lord is looking down on his earth today he has got to be one sad being.

Yes I do. A lot of percautions are being taken. Remember the president before Pres. Bush. He shut down many military sites. He said there was no money, but he sure had money to support his own causes. Oh! wait a minute I forgot about Whitewater and Monica..

Now there's an interesting take on the war on terror.
I've always said that in order to eliminate the cockroaches, one must first get them to come out of the woodwork.

In answer to your question, yes, I think that because of our direct involvement in the Middle East, we now have a much better chance of discovering any horrific plots that the Islamic radicals might be trying to brew up in the name of their god.

The terrorists must be soundly defeated. Every radical and demented person or group must be taught that the murder and maiming of innocent men, women and children is not a tactic that will succeed in achieving any objective - irregardless of their grievances or reasons - it will lead only to their total defeat.

we are less likely to be caught off guard, but we have more enemies now and it's only a matter of time before one of those enemies manages to sneak a WMD into the country.. it might be in 5 years, it might be in 50 years, but it will happen.. WMDs are getting smaller and smaller all the time and more and more countries are gaining access to them.. I fear for my country's future.. I love our freedom and I'm grateful to the Veterans who have fought for my freedom, but I really believe we need to start being more humble when dealing with other countries.. for example, if I were president I would be a lot more humble when dealing with the UN..

I do. We are safer now than ever before. I firmly believe the events that occured on 9/11 was a fluke. We got "sucker punched" as Toby Keith once said. Nobody will mess with us again... or at least until we turn our backs again.

I think that America is a lot safer now (although i'm anti-Bush). And it is possible that the Lord is showing us who could be a danger to American citizens.

We've developed more ways of dealing with possible terrorist threats; however, we have also created many, many more enemies than we had prior to 9/11.

So no, I don't believe we're safer.
