My boyfriend will experiment with anything! He isn't depressed or suicidal, but he decided to pop an expired depression pill, drank, and smoked marijauna- I know, not too smart!! Anyway, he felt extremely nausious all night. What are possible side effects of this? He still feels sick. Could he have died?

And please, I know a bunch of you are going to call him a bum, but he's very intelligent (working, getting his masters, etc)- he just does foolish things sometimes, so no telling me to "drop the idiot", okay?

If he had an allergic reaction to the pill, he could have died. One antidepressant pill is not likely to cause any effects. Most antidepressants take time to build up in the system before their effect is noticed. Side effects of any medication are GI upset, and if he had that side effect then alcohol would only compound it. If the pill was expired, it most likely wasn't as potent as one that wasn't expired would have been. Anytime u mix things u shouldn't, there is the possibility of death. Tell him he's an idiot.

wont tell u to drop the idiot but yes he cold have died. on the label of these bottles it tells u not to mix alcohol for a reason. when a pill expires, the chemical composition changes of these pills and after just the right amount of time the thing could become like a poison. they become unstable chemically and there isn't any telling what they could do if taken. the drug manufacturers will allow a certain amount of time as kind of a safety net so to speak but there are alot of variances. your boyfriend added alcohol to the mix along with alcohol. it really could have depressed his respiration or brain functions to the point where there may never have been any coming back. when u say he just does foolish things sometimes, your kind of making an excuse for him to do these things. i have to wonder just why he does foolish things that could be so self destructive. if u love him then get him to someone that can figure that question out. maybe if he knows why he does those things then he wont want to do them anymore. u didn't say how old he was so if hes young this could be a funeral waiting to happen with the next stupid thing or if hes older then id bet hes been doing this stuff for a while now , anyway don't throw him away , get him to someone that can help change the thinking behind whats really going on with him. good luck. hope u don't lose him after the next stupid stunt.

Depending on the dosage of the pill he might have died but what you really need to worry about is the damage that he might have done to his brain already. Drugs and alcohol are depressants, depression medication releases more serotonin (a substance in your body that makes you feel good) to peoples brains. When people start taking meds for depression they are told over and over again not to use any drugs or alcohol because it could cause a chemical imbalance in your brain and actually make you worse. If his mood changes after all this or you see him becoming irrational or depressed I suggest you tell someone. Meds should not be played with and taking them when you really don't have need for them can give you symptoms of depression.

I would say the side effects could be brain damage but it sounds like he is already so brain damaged he can't get worse..And if you stay with him you too must be a little light on the loofers

I dont know how dangerous that was but I can say it wasnt a good idea. I know people do what they want but you should talk to him, trust me! A few years back, me and my best friend decided to experiment with extacy and she never woke up, so maybe you should ask him if these experiments are worth his life?? Im sorry to be so blunt, but I am speaking from Experience- please try to stop him from trying stupid things again!
