Is it wrong (or perhaps just a bad idea) to ask a person who you're involved with how many sexual partners he or she has had? Would you see it as none of your business so long as they had been tested, or would you want to know how many?

I don't think it is wrong, it may not be the best thing to ask though!

It could cause problems for the questioner. What happens if they think they are ready to hear the answer but they don't like the answer.

It could turn out to be a real turning point in the relationship. What happens when they meet the ex on the street or out socialising?? Paranoia sets in...

It is up to the individual but my advise would be to make sure they are 100% comfortable with the relationship first.

Good Luck...

You shouldn't ask. It is a very bad idea. That is their past and should be left their. If you want to make sure they haven't had any std's or make sure they have been tested just ask. Don't bring up how many sexual partners they have had. You never know what past hurts you may be bringing up for them. Plus you don't know what that may do to you once you know how many.

Well do u feel comfortable telling ur other how many u have partners u have had? Are u ready for the questions that come along with that like, who, are they better? Are u ready for the response that u may get? There are alot of questions u need to think about before u open that conversation. My motto~ what happen is the past~leave it there~some things are better left unknown/unsaid.

It's never wrong to be worried about your health. It's a safe question, just prepare yourself for the worst. He may be tested but that doesn't mean anything....if ya'll are involved then you have a right to know atleast how many people he's slept with.

You should only ask if you're prepared for the answer ... he or she might have been round the block a few times, which may not be what you want to hear!

You should also be prepared to come clean and give an honest answer if asked!

Its not wrong but you may not like what you hear!
I once broached the subject with an ex and was absolutely horrified to hear hed "had" in excess of 150 women - it kinda turned me off him - particularly when he went on to brag about the fact that he'd had 3 of them at one time!!!!
I got such a turn after what he told me I ended up dumping him about 2 days later!
It totally depends on what you're prepared to hear - if you can handle it then ask away!

I dont think its wrong you might not like what you hear . . . I stupidly said to an ex "i cant remember how many" it was a joke but he took it seriously and always bought it up for ages afterward even thought i told him time and time again it was a joke !

It's not a good idea. You might not like the answer. Saying that, if you are broad minded about it, it is a good idea as it gives you an insight as to the type of person they are.

I think if you feel like you should know then you shouldnt ask because you will obviously be jealous or upset yourself etc. because you want to know something like that it prob means you are insecure. i mean what difference does it make to you? you are with them now and they (however many or not) are in the past? so it shouldnt matter. and if your that worried about STDs practice safe sex!

Only if you want **** to hit the fan do you ever ask that question. Most partners can't handle the answer.
