I seem to run out of air running (no pun intended!). I know you are meant to inhale through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. But I don't seem to get enough air in through my nose, or maybe it is a mental thing. Has anyone come across this before? If so, how was it overcome?

I used to run long distances only, I was not a sprinter ( those distances under 5 miles). I ran marathons mostly just to finish in under 3 hours. As such, pace was very important. Breathing in through my nose never really worked for me either. The only way I finally overcame it was to inhale half the air I needed when my right foot landed and half when my left foot landed. Then I would take a stride and exhale all the next rotation of my feet landings. So it worked out as 0.5 in, 0.5 in, stride, stride, all out. As for a sprinter, those people require much faster bursts of oxygen than a paced runner who just continues to have a steady flow of air. Good luck

Get the air into your lungs any way you can. I don't see people at the Olympics breathing through their noses!

Try and breath through your nose the whole time, and keep to that. It will help regulate your breathing, and when you stop you should recover faster...
That's just me.

You're probably running to fast. You want to be able to hold a conversation while you're running. Otherwise you're over doing it. Any running book or experienced runner will tell you the same.
