I don't care what you do but if my boyfriend asked me not to dress like that or smoke in front of his parents, I would do it.

I used to work with someone who was similar to how you've described yourself. I can tell you that while I never heard her called a 'skank', there was a general lack of respect for her. Flaunting what you've got isn't appropriate in a professional environment. You can dress in tailored, fitted clothing without wearing 'tight' clothing. The other just seems like a desperate bid for attention. The only problem is that it will be the wrong kind of attention. As to the smoking aspect, as long as you're keeping your habit restricted to your official breaks and lunches, then that's up to you. Just be respectful about where you smoke and be aware that you probably smell like smoke. I would recommend using some sort of spray like Febreeze to counteract that and breath mints or gum. I don't believe these women are jealous, they probably just don't think you're being very professional in your presentation of yourself. Good luck!

The short answer is yes, most likely they are jealous. You could be a skank, but I suspect that they don't even talk to you to know who you are, so I am assuming that they are judging on appearance. One of the things that I don't like about women is that they cannot celebrate that a woman looks good. But that's not really what it's about either. Most of it is their own securities about themselves and their own relationships. I bet that many of these women have boyfriends or husbands and they find you to be a threat to to them. You probably don't even know who their men are, but they still see you as a threat. Plus the fact that they secretly want to be able to dress like you do and be the "bad" girl that they perceive you to be.
Don't take it personally-always remember that if there was another woman in your position they would be doing the same thing to her. Also, anyone who has to focus on what a skank you are is not happy in their lives. BE YOU, BE HAPPY, AND BE SAFE. Don't let them change who you are. Live your life and let them live their miserable lives.

like it or not people make judgements based on how people look, that is human nature and will never change. just because you look good in tight clothes doesnt make it the right thing to wear to a professional job. if you feel smoking makes you look like a "skank" maybe that is just how you percieve yourself. I have never associated smoking with skanks personally. if it really bothers you try to clean up your image, be more aware of how you project yourself, and I would start wearing more work appropriate clothes, save the other stuff for drinks after work

You have to gauge just how tight your clothes are, are they like super tight - I can tell what kind of undies you have on tight? - or are they like just form fitting, which is fine. You should know where to draw the line.
The cig. thing, well that's your personal preference, who knows why they care - chances are they run out during lunch break and grab a pint of smirnoff at the local liquor store and chug it in their car before they get back to work - worry about yourself, let them worry about them - yes, they are jealous. If you really want to get them testy, do this.
If you don't wear glasses, just get a cheap pair of non-prescription glasses and wear them around the office or whatever and tell them that you are going for the librarian look!
That will piss them off for weeks.

Don't know what a 'skank' is.....but I think that you will find no matter who you are, what you do, what you wear, wheather you are big or small, a mother or a professional, Women in general are big bitches and will always have a opinion and be unkind to someone who has something they don't. I come across it at my childrens school's and I'm only dropping them off and picking them up and I'm a nobody!! Don't let the old cow's get you down, your brilliant and you know you are so go out and enjoy yourself. You go girl. XX

ur not a skank as long as what u r wearing represents you well enough. Nothign wrong with tight but there is something wrong with tight is ur chest is poping out. If u can pull it off dont let what other people think of u discourage u fom looking and feeling good about ur self :)

maybe you think you look good in tight clothes.
being a professional woman you can wear clothes that are flattering to your figure w/o the clothes being 'tight'. there's a time and place for everything though. you're sending a message to men and women alike that will eventually undermine your credibility as an competant professional.

Tight clothing in a business setting is frowned upon as it is unprofessional. You don't mention your age. If you are over 30, that may be part of the problem. Cigarettes are nasty, and many people look down upon them. If YOU are happy with yourself, ignore what people say and enjoy yourself.

When you talk about wearing tight clothes...it really depends how tight, and what type of clothes if your clothes are tight, and not flattering to your figure, it don't matter how good a figure you got you will look cheap...so your clothes should be flattering, and classy/stylish, and your body shape should be complemented by the clothes, period.
