How can I run Vista apps from winxp?

I already have .net 1 2 and 3 installed but if I copy, for example notepad.exe from windows Vista (RC1) windows XP just says it is not a valid win32 application. If it crashed because of missing DLLs that would be fair enough, but how is it not even a valid executable?

They didn't make any changes to notepad in Vista. There is no point in trying to copy it over.

Plus, that error message is very vague and doesn't really state what the problem is.
