plants in clay/terra cotta pots will need more watering than plants in plastic pots as water will evaporate through the pot material.

If the pot is too small, the plant will become what is called 'pot bound' with insufficient room for the roots to spread. If, however the pot is too large, all the growth will go to producing roots leaving little above. When growing seedlings, eg., cabbage, lettuce etc., start off with very small pots, usually the smallest available, then progress to a larger size then plant outside.....
