I have a Havanese puppy and she is 7 months old right now. Sh is already up to her full weight that she is to get to. So when can I start to give her Adult dog food? I don't want her getting fat on the puppy food! Please help.

Havanese are a smaller breed and at 7 months she is most likely at her full size and will fill out some but not grow any taller.
You can safely switch her to adult food any time now.
Even if you are going to use the same brand I would switch over slowly over about two weeks so she does not get an upset stomach or anything.
Good luck.

My vet recommended keeping my pup on puppy food thru 2 years old. Puppy food has a nutritional level suitable for puppies. Although, if you get your pup spayed or neutered then you can switch to adult to avoid too much weight gain that would come from keeping them on puppy food.

My vet told me that the puppy phase is over after 12 months, and that my puppy can switch to adult dog food after that. Even if it's by the same brand, I suggest that you 'gradually' switch over to the adult formula (meaning, starting around 11.5 months, add some adult dog food to the puppy dog food...and gradually increase the amount of adult food while you decrease the amount of puppy food). That way, your puppy won't have an upset tummy and she can gradually get used to her new adult food.

Good luck! :)

At one year of age is what my vet recommends. She wont get too fat now because she is still growing and developing. If she is gaining weight you should cut back on how much she eats a day. I would suggest you cut her back to 1/2 cup twice a day, and if she is still gaining weight then cut it back to 1/4 cup twice a day. Then keep her on that even when you change her over to adult food.

I think if she is at her full weight you can switch. I'm not familiar with Havanese but are they small? Small breeds mature faster so it may make sense to switch now.
