My sympathies for your loss. The questions you are asking now are the same ones most loved one's ask after somebody commits suicide. The best answer anyone can give you is that they are not in a state of mind where logical thought happens, or is even possible. Survival is a major driving force in most people, and it is hard to understand why anyone would choose to end it all. The only answer I can offer you is that suicide is the last act of desperation and despair, both so deep that the person really sees no end in sight and no hope of things getting better. They honestly feel as if they are doing themselves and others a favor by killing themselves. Unless you have experienced that kind of despair, it is extremely difficult to understand. I worked with it for years, and I still can't really understand it in a logical, sensible fashion. People at risk for suicide have to be restrained in whatever manner becomes necessary until professionals have a chance to get them through the crisis.
As hard as it is for you right now, and as much pain as you and your family are in, imagine that pain and misery magnified ten-fold. Imagine how isolated you must feel, and you cannot see any point at which this situation will get better. That is a glimpse into the mind of a suicide.
The final answer as to why somebody would make the choice of death over life is one that the suicide takes with them. Although you may make guesses as to why, none of them will likely ever be acceptable or reasonable explainations. I hope you and your family have spiritual or psychological support while you go through this difficult time, if not, then please do get some. Whatever problems your cousin had are over for him now, and it's up to those living to help one another survive the pain and heal so you can help raise a son who will never know his father. God bless you all, and may you find peace.

These people are in a lot of pain. They usually see no way out of whatever problems they are having. Suicide is their answer because all of their problems will end and they will no longer suffer. Most of them don't realize that this will have a negative affect on other people and may feel that if they are gone it might be the cure to other people's problems as well. Suicide is the loudest cry for help that anyone can give. If no one responds that's usually when the succeed.

Most of what I think has already been answered on previous answers.
Males typically commit suicide more than females partly because they feel "too proud" to seek help in cases of depression or other problems.
There are alot of mental illnesses out there that might have contributed to someone committing suicide.
I really think that the majority of people that commit suicide do not think of those they will leave behind, they are at a point where they are unable to think past what is inside themselves, they pain etc.

First I`am sorry for your loss and I will pray for your family and you. Some times a person gets so withdrawn into depression from what ever it is that troubles them they feel they have no place or person to turn to for help. Even small problems become over wellming. They tend to shut out the world arond them even more. Finally they think no one can help them and that the only way to get rid of the emotional or physical pain is to commit suicide. Some times its hard to see the warning signs of this type of problems going on, but please remember not to let anyone in your family including you to blame themselves. This was a terrible thing and it will take time to work through it, but you will by talking with your family, or friends, or if your a church going family your minister. Don`t let this destroy your life by dwelling on it and eat at your emotions. I hope this helped a little. May GOD bless you and your family.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think that in some cases when a person committs suicide, they aren't thinking about hurting loved ones... because they think they won't care. If a person knew how much they were loved, maybe they wouldn't be feeling that way. It's not that the family does anything wrong, but it's the mentality that person goes into, like an illness. Just remember, this is what he wanted, whether or not it was right, if you love him, you will learn to respect his wishes.

some people just have to much to deal with and like if there parents are always nagging and yelling at them and they try but the problem just won't stop they think that it would be better just to not deal with it at all and so they just give up like some times things just get that way like every body i know comes to me for advice on everything because they say that no matter what their problem is i know what to do the ask if it is getting to be to much but i don't seem to get worked up with that i have had people come to me with questions about suicide and like they will ask me why they did what they did and most the time if i ask a couple of qusetions about the person i can most the time figure out why they did but for a person to do that they most have had a good reasion or something you just wake up and do that something was happening something that he couldn't deal with there is a reason or it wouldn't have happened.

That is a good question!
First of all, I am sorry for your loss. I feel the hardest thing to overcome is not getting the answer that you are looking for, "Why?"
I feel that people in that state, that is all that they do is think. They feel so overwhelmed with thoughts and feelings that they can't think or feel anything else. It has to be a horrible feeling that life is to much to handle, especially when their is a two year old involved.
This may be hard to hear right now, allow yourself the time to grieve, feel anger, and remember life.
Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Self-deliverance can be an act of ultimate, irrational anger and rage, as well as an escape from the pain of being alive. I'm so sorry for the young son, for you, and for all of your cousin's survivors.

I don't know enough about the situation to offer possible, plausible explanations. Was he an angry man? Was his a gesture of, "I'll show them"? Did he have financial woes? A drug/drink jones? Was he closeted?

There are so many variables. I hope my questions might cast light on answers.

I'm so sorry.

They commit suicide because they don't see any direction in life which they can follow. But, why kill yourself? Life is wonderful and colorful, therefore it must be lived up to the fullest. Perhaps, they are just hopeless and carried away by their emotions.

There is a need to practice effective and good decision making.
