Well there are several (ways to do it).
1. You can scan it in as a JPEG (.jpg), which is the format for handling photographic files or information. This allows you however to -ONLY- view the document as if it were a photo snapped with a hi-quality camera. You can't alter any text on the the resume (just as you can't edit the last photo you snapped and printed on Fuji or Kodak film paper after one special occassion or the other you must have celebrated).
2. You can also use what I will describe here as OCR (Optical Character Recognition)capability of the printer...if your printer has such featured. What it does is to "lift" -as my ex-boss liked to call it- the a copy of the image and recognise what ever image appears on it - the text in your case- such that it can be sent to Microsft Word and automatically pasted onto a fresh (New) document. The accuracy of the pasted copy depends on how clear your Resume already is. The less clearer it is, the more you will need to edit the pasted copy to correct the vcharacters which dont look like what they should like.
Note that if a character isnt clear, the scanner/OCR combo will substitute with the nearest looking character in computer's font collection.
I hope this will at leats give you a lead on how to get your task completed. Goodluck.
